Sell with us

On average, 50% of the items in our wardrobes are never worn. That’s millions of Rands worth of clothing just hanging there, unworn, taking up precious space. And headspace.

At Maven we’re passionate about style AND sustainability. It’s our mission to get these perfectly good to wear items back into circulation to be worn and loved again.

Every item purchased second-hand is one less item purchased new. That’s one less item made. And less impact on our planet if everyone did this once a year.

On that inspiring note, if you have any quality pieces, in excellent condition that you’re not wearing (for whatever reason), get in touch with us and we’ll take care of the rest.

What are Maven’s selection criteria? We're very particular about our quality and accept clothing, shoes and accessories from:

Designer Brands: local and international like Helmut Lang, Vivienne Westwood, Nicole Miller, Karen Millen, LK Bennett, POLO, LIU JO, Kate Spade & Diane Von Furstenberg.

Boutique Brands: local and international like Maje, Closet London, Reiss, Ted Baker, August, Jane Valken, Hush, Marlene Birger, FOUND.Collection & Mink Pink.

High end items from High Street Brands like Whistles, Guess, Cos, Zara, Topshop, Sissy Boy, Witchery, Banana Republic, Abercrombie & Fitch and French Connection.

Vintage items that are in great condition.

How do I sell to Maven? If the clothes you want to sell meet our selection criteria, simply get in touch on or via WhatsApp (Jane – 072 587 6640 or Teri – 072 453 2889) to tell us what you’d like to sell, including a photo of each item. If you’re in Cape Town you can drop the clothes off with either Jane in Hout Bay or Teri in Rondebosch, and if you’re not in Cape Town we can organise a courier to collect them from you. The cost of the courier will be deducted from what we pay you. We’ll guide you through the process to make it as hassle free as possible.

Is there anything else I need to do? Nope, that’s it from your side. Once we’ve paid you for your items, we then photograph, describe and upload your clothes onto the Maven website, and handle all enquiries, sales and couriering of items to buyers.

What condition must the clothes be in? Clothes must be clean, free of stains and not in need of dry cleaning when they arrive at Maven. If any items do need cleaning, repairing or dry cleaning, we will deduct this cost off the amount we pay you.

What will I get paid? We’re different from consignment stores in that we pay upfront for the right items, so you don’t have to wait for them to sell to get paid. Based on the value we think your item will sell for online, we offer 30% of that value in cash, or 50% of that value in credit to spend in our online store. We deduct a management / handling fee which covers the process required to on sell your clothes: washing & ironing (where necessary), photography, storage, loading, marketing, picking & packing.

How do you decide on the value? The amount we pay depends on the quality, brand, style, original price and category of each item. We pay more for items that are new and still have the tag attached, provided they meet our selection criteria. We also take into account the work required to sort, clean, style, photograph, store, list and sell the clothing.

What happens to the items you reject? What might not be sellable on Maven can still be very wearable, so we give you 2 options: You can get the clothes back (collection or courier at your cost) or allow us to donate them to The Clothing Bank. We work very closely with The Clothing Bank and support them by donating as much clothing as possible. Read more about them here.

How long will it take before I get paid? Once your clothing reaches us, you'll hear from us within 2 weeks and EFTs are made within 10 working days thereafter.
